We follow the same schedule every day. The children thrive off predictability and knowing what each day will bring.
I provide a healthy morning snack and a nutritious lunch daily for all children. Meals are thoughtfully prepared with a focus on whole, unprocessed foods, offering plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, and balanced ingredients. I believe that what children eat matters- and I am proud to serve food that fuels their bodies and minds without unnecessary additives.
Students participate in a daily circle time where we play learning games, sing, do arts/crafts, review letters/sounds, learn sight words, go over daily preschool expectations, and talk about positive behavior expectations, problem-solving strategies, and social-emotional strategies.
Children are read 15 books per day. Our daily upstairs reading books are rotated weekly and are purposefully chosen. Literacy time books are rotated monthly.
Children have an extended period of time daily to play whatever they choose. Learning centers and activities are purposefully chosen and rotated for maximum learning and fun.
A full Musikgarten curriculum is taught each semester (I am a certified Musikgarten instructor). Music class is taught every Monday in two semester increments each school year.
Children have access to an art center during free play. A variety of creative materials are offered daily. Children are given the chance to do many explorative, self-created art projects with many different mediums and tools. Science is incorporated multiple times a week into our daily circle time.
Children work 1:1 with Ms. Erin multiple times a week; they receive individualized reading instruction specifically targeted to their readiness levels. They also participate in shared reading time twice a day with their peers.
The children participate in a whole-group math and calendar time every day. They also receive 1:1 direct math instruction catered to their readiness levels.
During warmer months we will spend a lot of our free play time in the morning outdoors. We will also take walks and park trips. During the chilly months, children have the opportunity to head outside right after lunch each day to get some fresh air.
Every day the children participate in an individualized writing time where they do planned and intentional activities that cater to their readiness levels.
